Electronic-Digital Service of Process
In these unprecedented times it is not unreasonable to think electronic service of process might begin to play a more prominent role in the various methods of conducting proper service.
The acceptance of electronic service of process has extended beyond email to platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Where it can be deployed, E-Service can work as with nearly 2.3 billion global social media users, serving legal notices through these platforms increases the likelihood of notification compared to traditional methods.
However, approval for alternate service via email or social media involves presenting evidence of the defendant's ownership of the account and demonstrating diligent efforts in personal service attempts.
To date it seems initial attempts via electronic service are not an option so using this approach requires research, confidence and a court that will recognize the fulfillment of service obligations under these circumstances.
